POW Right up #11

Process: I first tried to figure out how far I could go to drop some of the mangos off. Logan Payton and I were working on this together. I finally figured out that I could go a distance of 500 miles and drop off some of the mangos there and go back and get more and drop them off. When I got as many mangos to the 500 mile mark, I went straight to the village and I was able to get 875 mangos to the village.
Solution: Lyle can get 875 mangos to the village!
How Lyle does it: Lyle will have to go 500 miles and drop off some of the mangos but still have enough to go back and get more. Once he can’t go back to get any more mangos he goes straight to the village.
Best Solution: I think this is the best solution because it is impossible to go straight there but my method is the quickest way because you only have to make a stock pile once and then you can go straight to your destination.
Extension: Bob the skier has his own ski company and he has to ski down a hundred mile mountain to get the skies to a ski store. He will have to ski on the skies he is taking down, but every one mile a ski has a tendency to break, so how will he get the most skies to the ski shop??
Evaluation: I thought this problem was creative and pretty fun. I would like to do some more of these problems in the future.

Procedure: I made a 5x5 square with blocks you gave us. Then for the one sided blocks I would count how many were there on one side and multiply that number by how many sides are left. To be sure that I was correct I would count all the one sided squares. That’s what I did for one sided, two sided, and three sided. I could never figure out how to get nxn, all I figured out was that the three sided for nxn was 8.
1 sided 2 sided 3 sided
Solution: 5x5 = 54 = 36 = 8
There were no 4 sided squares
nxn= I could not figure out the problem for nxn, except for the 3 sided I figured out was 8.
Evaluation: I thought this problem was fun. It was a little confusing in the beginning for me, but when I got some blocks and got to see it visually it started to make a lot more sense.
